Admission requirements

Master in Linguistics Study Program aims to produce graduates with linguistic skills, both theoretical and practical. For this reason, a system for accepting prospective new students with adequate academic qualifications is needed. The study program sets standards appropriate or higher than the university's minimum requirements. The requirements in question include: prospective students come from universities accredited at least B with a minimum GPA of 3.00, TOEFL equivalent to at least 450, minimum TPA of 450, and have clear study projections and are under existing competencies at UGM. The study program also organizes an interview test for prospective students which includes linguistic understanding ability, motivation, and readiness to complete the final project.

Social media such as Instagram of the study programs, which are managed by study program admins and heads of study programs, if there are questions that are directly related to study programs such as registration, study program competencies, lectures, etc. which can be answered directly by the admin and/or the head of study programs.

Procedure for admission of new students to the linguistics master program:

  • New students are admitted once a year at the beginning of the academic year.
  • Examination of administrative files (English language skills, TPA, S1 Study Program Accreditation, GPA, Projections, Recommendations)
  • Interview test.
  • Meeting to determine acceptance by faculty and study program.
  • Announcement of selection results online.

Ensuring foreign language proficiency

Mastery of a foreign language, an entry requirement is mastery of English. UGM has an institution assigned to conduct English proficiency tests for prospective students. The results of English proficiency are stated in the AcEPT (Academic English Proficiency Test) certificate. Students are accepted if they achieve a minimum AcEPT score of 243. Apart from AcEPT, English language proficiency can also be demonstrated by a TOEFL score with a minimum score of 450 or a minimum IELTS score of 4.0. Transparency and documentation of admission procedure and decision

UGM stipulates the admission requirements for Masters students by having AcEPT (TOEFL/IELTS) and PAPS (TPA Bappenas) certificates. The requirements at the study program level are projection, recommendation letter, undergraduate GPA, and undergraduate study program accreditation certificate.
